Our Christian Values

"Together We Thrive"

Pupils know that we are a Church of England Primary School and how this makes our school unique. The children talk about our school REFLECT Christian values, link them to Bible stories and explain how they apply them to their learning and wider life.

We celebrate our Christian Values through weekly certificates, Christian Value class charts (where the children acknowledge other children who have demonstrated one of our Christian Values during lessons) and through raffle tickets (where the children and staff acknowledge other children who have demonstrated one of our Christian Values during break times). Our Christian Values are also intrinsicly linked to our behaviour policy and conversations between adults and children (and often between children and children) centering on the Christian Value that is (or isn't) being shown and positive changes that can be made.

Christian Ethos

As a church school, we put Christian teachings and values at the heart of everything we do.

Our Christian ethos is embodied in our school REFLECT values.

Respect

Endeavour

Friendship

Leadership

Enjoyment

Cooperation

Trust

Each of our Christian Values is rooted in scripture and, throughout the school year, we develop our children's understanding of these roots of and the way to demonstrate these values through Collective Worship.

Below you will find more detailed information about each of the values:

"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves."

Philippians 2: 3

Philippians 2:3 tells us to value others above ourselves. This means thinking about other people and how they feel and treating them with kindness. It's about remembering that everyone is important.

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters."

Colossians 3: 23

Colossians 3:23 says to do everything with all our hearts, as if we are working for God. This means always trying our best in schoolwork and chores, not just to get a good grade or a reward, but because doing our best is a way to honour God.

"My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you."

John 15: 12

John 15:12 is a command from Jesus: "Love each other as I have loved you." This teaches us that the best kind of friendships are loving and selfless, just like the love Jesus has for us.

"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

Mark 10: 45

Mark 10:45 shows that true leadership isn't about being in charge. It's about serving others, just as Jesus did. A good leader helps and cares for people, putting their needs first.

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!"

Philippians 4: 4

Philippians 4:4 says to "Rejoice in the Lord always." It means we can be happy and joyful all the time because our joy comes from knowing and loving God, not from our circumstances.

"Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ."

1 Corinthians 12: 12

1 Corinthians 12:12 explains that even though we are all different, we are all part of one body, like a team.  This verse teaches us that everyone's role is important, and we work better when we work together.

"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."

1 Peter 5: 7

1 Peter 5:7 encourages us to "cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." This means we can give God all of our worries and fears because he loves us and will take care of us.

In the right soil, every single seed can grow and flourish to produce a bountiful harvest.
Mark 4 : 3-8
